I. Organization moment.
- Good afternoon, pupils! I am very glad to see you.
Let’s start our open lesson. The theme of today’s lesson is "Pollution is bad for health.” It is an
important problem. We will speak about the environment and environmental
problems.
The teacher (shows an apple): This our Earth. The teacher (cut the apple into
quarters): Three quarters of the Earth’s surface is water and only one –
quarter is land. The teacher cuts one quarter: Only one half of the land is habitable.
The other half is the deserts, mountains, frozen ice caps. Less than one per
cent of the Earth’s water is fresh and drinkable. The population of the Earth
become larger every year, but the Earth doesn’t become larger. That’s why
should take care of the Earth, save it clean and nice.

What’s the pollution?
1. pollution means what’s around us, around you, me and all people on the
Earth.
2. Pollution is all that surrounds us, the air we breathe, the soil on which we
stand and walk, the water we drink.
Thank you very much.
As you know hundred years ago a man lived in a great harmony with his environment
because industry was less developed. Today the situation is different. People
all over the world are worried about environment and about environmental
problems that endanger people’s lives. What are the most important
environmental problems?
1. Pollution in many forms: water pollution, air pollution, destruction of
wildlife and countryside beauty.
2. Noise from cars, buses.
3. Food is not healthy.
4. Animals are in danger. Animals are killed for meat, oil, skin and fur.
5. Plants die from pollution.
You are right. And what does pollution cause?
1. I think that pollution causes different kinds of diseases. People can be
unhealthy, because the water is polluted, soil is polluted, and air is
polluted. Food is not healthy.
2. Fish die in lakes, rivers, seas.
3. Forests are destroyed for building.
4. Much of dangerous wastes go into the air and are carried by winds for great
distances. Wastes from factories, the chemical industry and heavy industry are
very dangerous.
5. Breathing such polluted air we lose our health, which above wealth.

our environment clean!
