Grade 9 Date ____ English 9, Unit 4, step 3 Topic of the lesson: A part time job Aim: to enlarge students’ knowledge on the job description Lesson objectives: All learners will be able to: - answer the questions; - read and translate the text; - complete the sentences Most learners will be able to: - write a similar story as an example; - understand the listening interview Some learners will be able to: - express their opinions on discussing subject Resources: pupil’s book, self-assessment chart, flash cards “Jobs”. Stages Planned timing Teacher’s activity Pupils’ activity Differentiation Methods and technologies Presentation. 2 min. Teacher greets pupils and talks with pupils on duty. Teacher presents the theme of the lesson. Pupils on duty answer the teacher’s questions about date, weather and absence of some pupils. T---P1P2 (Dialogue) Brain storming. 3 min. Teacher offers to guess the words of jobs and answer the questions. Pupils do ex.1,2 on page 93. T---Cl (Solving problem) Practice. 15 min. Teacher divides pupils into 3 groups. Teacher gives the instruction what to do. Pupils work in groups. They read the text and draw diagrams and complete them. Then share the information with other groups. Ex. 3-5 on p.93-95. Gr1, Gr2, Gr3 (Discussion) Writing a story.15 min. Teacher gives the instruction how to write a story: like a dialogue, an assay, a poem. The size: 6- 8 sentences. Pupils work in groups. They choose the form (a dialogue, an assay, a poem). They write a similar story about Jennifer. Then they present their work to other groups. Gr1, Gr2, Gr3 (Critical thinking) Reflection. 5 min. Teacher reads the interview and checks the understanding. Pupils listen to the teacher and choose the right answers. Ex.9(p256) -10 p.96 Individual work Feedback Assessment. 3 min. Teacher dictates the tasks done at the lessons and asks pupils to put marks (with colored cards) for each task separately and count the total. Pupils carry out the command of the teacher.
